Privacy notice

This page explains what happens to your personal information when you use thebritainproject.org.uk. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, please ask us — the contact details are at the bottom.

Who we are

This website is run by Amphora Solutions Ltd (company number 12769925) on behalf of Reset: The Britain Project Ltd (company number 12769925), the organisation behind The Britain Project.

Amphora Solutions Ltd is the data controller for this website. That means we are the ones responsible for the personal data collected here and for deciding how it is handled. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZC201961.

Where this notice says we or us, it means Amphora Solutions Ltd.

What we collect, and why

When you use the contact form

The form on our home page collects:

• your name
• your email address
• the message you write
• the address of the page you were on when you opened the form

We use this for one purpose only: so that The Britain Project can read your message and reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not use your message for anything else.

Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You give that consent by choosing to fill in the form and send it, knowing that we will pass it on to The Britain Project. You can withdraw it whenever you like — see changing your mind below.

Giving us your details is entirely voluntary. There is no statutory or contractual obligation to provide them, and nothing bad happens if you would rather not. The only consequence is the obvious one: without an email address we cannot reply to you.

The form itself is served from helpdesk.radicaltechteam.co.uk, the helpdesk system operated by Amphora that we use to manage enquiries. When you press send, your message goes there.

When you simply read the site

We use Umami, a privacy-preserving analytics tool, to count visits. It does not collect anything that identifies you personally, it does not follow you between websites, and the data it records is anonymised and aggregated — things like how many people viewed a page, roughly which country they were in, and which site they arrived from. We cannot work out who you are from any of it.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): we need some idea of whether the site works and whether anyone is finding it. We have weighed that against your privacy, and because the tool cannot identify you the impact is minimal. You can object to this at any time.

Cookies — or rather, the lack of them

You may have noticed there is no cookie banner. That is because this site does not set any cookies, and it does not store anything on your device or read anything from it. Our analytics work without cookies, and the typefaces are served from our own server rather than from a third party, so nothing about you is sent anywhere simply by reading this page.

Because we do not store or access information on your device, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations do not require us to ask your permission — which is why we do not interrupt you to ask for it.

Who else sees your data

• Reset: The Britain Project Ltd — we pass your enquiry to them so they can reply.

That is the whole list. We do not sell, rent or swap your personal data, we do not share it for advertising or marketing, and we do not use it to build a profile of you. The only other circumstance in which we would disclose it is if we were legally required to.

Where your data is kept

Your data stays in the UK. It is processed by Amphora Solutions Ltd on servers in the UK.

How long we keep it

We keep what you send through the contact form for 12 months after your query has been closed, and then delete it. We keep it that long so that we have the context if you get back in touch about the same thing.

Our analytics figures contain no personal data, so we keep those aggregate counts indefinitely.

No automated decisions, no profiling

We do not make any decisions about you by automated means, and we do not profile you. Nothing here scores, sorts or categorises you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Access your data — ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
• Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
• Delete it, sometimes called the right to be forgotten.
• Restrict what we do with it — in effect, ask us to pause.
• Object to us processing it.
• Port it — receive it in a common, machine-readable format, or have us send it to someone else.
• Withdraw your consent at any time.

Which of these apply depends on why we are handling your data, but for anything you have sent through the contact form you can use any of them. Objecting and withdrawing your consent amount to much the same thing there, since consent is the only reason we hold it.

To exercise any of these, use the contact form or email us at privacy@amphora.cloud. It costs nothing, and we will respond within one month.

Changing your mind

To withdraw your consent, use the contact form or email privacy@amphora.cloud. We will stop sharing your data with The Britain Project, ask them to do the same, and delete what we hold in line with the retention period above.

Withdrawing consent does not make anything we did beforehand unlawful — it just stops anything further.

Keeping your data safe

This site is served over an encrypted connection, access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it in order to reply to you, and we keep the software behind the site up to date.

Children

This site is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has sent us their details, please tell us and we will delete them.

If you are unhappy

Please tell us first — email privacy@amphora.cloud or write to Amphora Solutions Ltd at 3 Darby Vale, Warfield, Berkshire RG42 2PJ. We would much rather hear about a problem and fix it.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent regulator for data protection. Coming to us first does not affect that right in any way.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is a significant one, we will make that clear rather than quietly editing the text.
